Go Flag Football works with youth at JCC:

August 22, 2005.

On August 14, 2005, the Jewish Community Center of Atlanta invited GoFlagFootball.com to present at their fall youth flag football kick-off meeting. The event took place at Shirley Blumenthal Park, and there was a great crowd. Go Flag Football author and coach, Danny Crumley, led the coaches' clinic.

The clinic was part of the JCC's "value added" activities for their recreational and wellness programs.  The JCC offers a wide range of activities for youth and adults. The clinic lasted about an hour and the group enjoyed the participation.

Danny spoke to the group of parents and kids about the sport of flag football and it's popularity around the world. "I love to see the kid's eyes light up when I talk about working with teams from around the world. They are also intrigued to know that some of the flag football tournaments can have $10,000 or larger prize money."

After a short question and answer session, the group went into a few practice drills. Go Flag Football likes to offer programs that the group can take with them off the field. The drills we demonstrate can be used to practice basic techniques before a game, during practice, and at home.

"Our main focus with youth groups is to let them know that this is a sport you can continue to enjoy the rest of your life. We also stress our three main points for flag football: good sportsmanship, playing safe, and having fun!"

We had a wonderful time. It was a learning experience for all of us and I would like to extend a special thanks to Jared Powers, Shirley Blumenthal Park Supervisor and Director, Recreation and Wellness, for setting up the event.
